Tiburon Managing Partner Chip Roame Tiburon's primary speaker is its Managing Partner Chip Roame, who is dedicated to sharing the firm's research and who gives about seventy-five speeches per year, possibly making him the most frequent conference speaker in the industry. Tiburon Conference Speech Topics Tiburon conference speeches are continuously updated and share insights from the firm's ongoing research efforts (Tiburon has no canned speeches). The firm's most popular speech topics evolve with market trends and Tiburon's research agenda. At any given time, Tiburon usually has 15-20 topics that are in high-demand and for which the firm has recently completed research. Tiburon Conference Speech Details & Fees A typical Tiburon speech lasts from one-to-two hours and is supported by 40-60+ PowerPoint slides. Tiburon is happy to share its slides with audience members. Tiburon Conference Speeches are billed at the day rate of Tiburon's Managing Partner. Speaking fees are $20,000 for Tiburon CEO Summit Sponsors & Tiburon Members, and $35,000 for non-Tiburon Members, plus travel expenses. Trade Group & Discount Policy Tiburon's Managing Partner is in high demand for conference speeches, so the firm rarely discounts its fees. By far, the most prevalent example of Tiburon discounting is when its Managing Partner speaks for non-profit organizations. Tiburon recognizes the limited funds of non-profit trade groups and wants to contribute to the industry. As an effort in this regard, Tiburon is willing to either except payment form a sponsor organization and/or to waive its traditional speaking fees and deliver non-profit trade group speeches for any stipend (for instance, stipends have ranged from $5,000 to $15,000), plus travel expenses as described elsewhere on this page. Unfortunately, Tiburon must decline speech requests if travel expenses cannot be covered in their entirety along with at least some stipend. The only other examples of discounting are when Tiburon's Managing Partners is engaged to speak on the same topic multiple times over a series of days (saves Tiburon preparation time) and/or when engaged to speak on the same day on different topics (saves Tiburon travel time). Travel Policy Tiburon bills for travel expenses in addition to speaking fees but for no other office expenses. Tiburon's Managing Partner flies first class (business class when available on entire route) primarily from San Francisco, CA. Invoices are due within thirty days. Speakers Bureau PolicyTiburon is flattered by the attention from dozens of speakers bureaus that have sought to represent its Managing Partner as a speaker. That said, the firm has not found that it saves much in the way of preparation in such instances. As a result, Tiburon's speakers bureau policy is that it needs to net the greater of the minimum fee (e.g., $35,000 for Tiburon's Managing Partner), along with travel expenses as described above. Cancellation Policy Due to a few late cancellations after materials had been prepared or other speeches passed upon, Tiburon has been forced to create a cancellation policy which goes into effect as soon as a date is held for a conference. Any speech cancelled after holding a date, will be billed at the entire speaking fee plus any pre-booked travel expenses.
